      It’s a common joke among physicist that we only get into the subject to make either a light sabre, hoverboard or rocket pack. Laser gun is probably next on that list.

      You could make a laser gun now, but it would be huge. The power supply needed would be massive. It would probably produce so much heat it would cook the user too. So a blaster or phaser is probably still quite a way off yet.
