• Question: Hi sam, What would happen if you shone the laser on someon and how dosen't the x-ray melt?

      That would be pretty bad. The laser would probably cause serious burns and tissue damage to a living being. Naturally we’ve not tested this!

      Fortunately nothing like that could happen as the laser area is a tightly controlled environment with many redundant safety features. There are also a lot of stringent safety training that everyone has to go through. Also, you simply cannot have the laser on in the experiment room if anyone is in it as well. When the laser is on we all sit far away from where it hits the target, behind thick concrete and steel walls.
