Are you sure it is? A proper way to tell that, is to get a group of friends, who do not know anything about their sign, try to guess what the sign of the other person is. I bet it won’t go beyond random guess.
If however people manage to guess the sign right based on personality, I think it could be due simply by the fact that the first months of the life of a person are very important to influence the character, so someone born in winter may have a different personality as someone born in summer, as usually people from warm climates have different personalities from those from colder places. I even have a way to test this theory experimentally: do the blind zodiac test I was proposing above in England and in Australia: there the seasons are opposite, so the correlation between character and date of birth should be reversed.

they don’t, not really. For starters the stars have moved on the sky since the dates were set down, so everyone is actually one zodic sign futher on than they think they are.

Its only psycology that makes people think their accurate. For instance, I’m a Geminii. Apparently I have “an impulse towards change and versatility, and an easy ability to adapt to the demands of the environment.” If I beleived in the zodiac I would look at that and find how it might apply to me and think ‘oh yes, that’s got me down perfectly’, but I’d only think that because I’m looking for it. It’s also such a broad statement that it could apply to anyone. If its completely wrong people tend to go ‘so it doesn’t work, oh well’ and move on. It’s the people who it perfectly describes tend to be so amazed they shout about it, so people think that it’s true when it’s not.

      Simply put, it isn’t.

Its a bunch of generic rubbish put in such a way that anyone could identify with parts of it in some way. Because of the way the mind works, we then tend to connect the dots around those few random events and make a story out of it. The human brain is exceptionally good at this, but sometimes it forces explanations and links on to perfectly random events.

The zodiac is a remnant from a time we knew little about the universe and our earth, and relies on concepts we now know to be wrong – the stars in the various constellations as you see them from Earth are by no means close to each other, for example.
