Methanol is a chemical itself, and it is made up of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. It’s a type of chemical called an alcohol, but it’s not the alcohol that is in alcoholic drinks (that’s ethanol) and you shouldn’t drink it as it’s incredibly poisonous (a shot of it is enough to cause blindness and potentially death).
