Mostly the rover just picks up rocks to look at the geology and climate of Mars. It’s our closest rocky planet (that isn’t covered in an atmosphere of boiling sulpher) so it helps us understand how the earth was formed. The most facinating thing to me it’s found is veins of rock formation that oculd only have been formed by running water. we don’t see any there now, but there was once running water on Mars. That’s huge.
