my fave experiment is the Lunar Laser Reflector experiment where you bounce a laser off of a mirror on the moon to measure how far away it is. Very cool.

Putting a precise clock in an aeroplane and flying it a couple of times around the world. Time runs slower on the plane flying eastward compared to a clock on the ground and we can measure this – showing definitely that how quickly time passes depends on how fast you’re travelling!

I like an experiment called Gravity Probe B which is orbiting the Earth at the moment, and is trying to test Einstein’s theory of relativity very precisely. The to this scientists had to make the smoothest and most perfect spheres ever made. If you expanded them to be the size of the Earth the bumps on the surface would still be only a few metres high!
