      believe it or not, there is a full book about the equations governing something as apparently simple as a pendulum!

      I like Gravity Probe B, even though it has a very boring name. It was an experiment to test Einstein’s theory of relativity, and to do this they have to make the smoothest spheres ever made. If you scaled them up to the size of the Earth the bumps on the surface would stil be only a few meters high. i think that’s amazing!

      I like telescopes. The one I use, Herschel, is pretty cool but there will always be a soft spot in my life for the Hubble Space Telescope.
