      Yes, a firework is just a mix of different chemicals burning, and burning anything is a chemical reaction. Different chemicals burn with different coloured flames, so by putting different chemicals in your fireworks you can get different colours of explosions! Also, by choosing very carefully how the firework is shaped, you can make different patterns when the firework explodes.

      If it makes a bang, a smell or a flash it’s usually chemistry. Fireworks do all three.
