• Question: Do you think the universe will ever slow down and stop expanding?

      It’s possible, but at the moment the expansion of the universe is speeding up! We don’t understand how this can be happening, so it’s very hard to predict whether it will keep speeding up or eventually slow down and stop expanding.

      for what we know from the latest observations, no, the universe will continue expanding forever. But maybe we’ll understand it better with a new generation of experiments

      It’s one possible theory. Evidence is pointing towards that, but its difficult to predict. Its a very small difference between stopping, reversing and expanding forever.
