The further a galaxy is from us the faster we are moving away from it. But to give you a rough idea: a galaxy that is a billion billion km away (this is the sort of distance we have to travel to get to nearby galaxies!) is moving away from us with a speed of roughly 100 km per second.

This doesn’t change anything in our day to day life on Earth. But by understanding more about our universe and all the things that our in it we will be able to make new advances in technology that will improve all our lives. Just like when people were first studying electricity, no one knew all the amazing things it would lead to!
