      We’ve found that a lot of galaxies are a lot futher away than we thought they are. That means we have to rethink some of our ideas on how the universe is made up and how it was formed.

      We’ve discovered that it might be possible for some new types of particle to travel faster than light. That was really unexpected and exciting!

      That atoms exposed to intense X-ray radiation behave very differently than thought initially. This has some very important repercussions on how we understand plasmas, and how they interact with light.
